Distressed Medium Blue Boat Cleat Rack

These racks start as pine planks that we paint white, paint blue, and finally distress and seal with gloss polyurethane. The cleats we use are authentic marine hardware designed for use in saltwater environments; we seal the cleats to make them suitable hooks for clothes and towels.

Mounting instructions: The fastest and easiest way is to use the d-ring hooks we install on the back of every rack we sell. These hooks are rated to hold 20 lbs, so a rack with two of these hooks should have a 40lb capacity. For longer or heavier racks, we use heavier d-rings rated for 40 lbs each, which gives those racks an 80 lb capacity. The other mounting method takes a little more work but is even stronger and creates an absolutely flush wall mount. For this, simply remove the d-ring hooks we installed on the back of the rack. Then remove one screw from one cleat on each end of the rack and replace our short screw with a long screw (2.5 to 3 inches). Drive that screw all the way through the rack and into a stud or drywall anchor. Why all the boat cleats? I grew up in coastal North Carolina, in Morehead City. Now I live in Greenwood, South Carolina, but my heart is still near the water. The boat cleats just look like home. They remind me of everything nautical. The remind me of beach houses, fishing piers, docks, and the rugged old commercial fishing boats that are becoming so scarce back home. These boat cleat racks are the perfect combination of where I am from and where I am now.
