These nautical boat cleat racks are made of pine planks and galvanized iron cleats. These racks are suitable to be used as coat racks, towel racks, back pack racks, hat racks, or key racks. They are built to be used indoors or outdoors in harsh saltwater
The outside planks have been painted white, the middle plank painted white, and finally sealed with gloss polyurethane.
All these racks are roughly 4.5" wide and are available in a range of lengths from 18" to 48." Custom sizes are available upon request.
The racks all come with d-ring hanging hardware attached on the back.
We have been making boat cleat coat and towel racks and selling them on Etsy since 2015, and since 2015 we have made approximately 1,000 racks a year in our garage workshop. The racks we build today reflect years of experience that you won't get from newer copycat shops. We take extra steps to ensure that knots don't show through our finishes and that our cleats don't discolor over time. We go to extra expense to build our racks with the best products on the market. We use Sherwin Williams WeatherShield exterior paints and exterior grade Minwax Professional Spar Urethane as our sealant. The screws we use to mount our cleats are rated for 10 years in treated lumber; they'll last even longer in the untreated wood we use. Our racks are designed to look great for years, and we have been in business long enough to know they do.
The fastest and easiest way is to use the d-ring hooks we install on the back of every rack we sell. These hooks are rated to hold 20 lbs, so a rack with two of these hooks should have a 40lb capacity. For longer or heavier racks, we use heavier d-rings rated for 40 lbs each, which gives those racks an 80 lb capacity.
The other mounting method takes a little more work but is even stronger and creates an absolutely flush wall mount. For this, simply remove the d-ring hooks we installed on the back of the rack. Then remove one screw from one cleat on each end of the rack and replace our short screw with a long screw (2.5 to 3 inches). Drive that screw all the way through the rack and into a stud or drywall anchor.

Beautiful piece! My husband was getting annoyed with all of my nautical purchases for our new house thinking I was going “over-board” (pardon the pun)….but when this came in he was excited to put it up! He even opted to put it next to our front door as opposed to the laundry/mud room! It’s really a cool statement piece as well as being practical and useful!!!!

Great quality product and goes perfectly in our beach house. I would recommend you think about how you will hang this in your house though. I didn’t feel the hooks on the back were sufficient for the weight so I took off two of the cleats and screwed into the studs. Worked well since the cleats cover up the holes and this is not going anywhere now :)
